Welcome
to the Traditional Song Forum's website. It is
intended to be a gateway to a number of useful resources for those
interested in researching or performing traditional folk songs. It is also a
record of the Forum'sactivity since it was founded in 1997.
TSF is
an open organisation - you will find out more about it further into the site but
the bottom line is that if you want to be a member you just made the most
important step by coming in. If you like what you find here then come back,
contribute and become part of the Community!
This
is the third incarnation of the TSF website and I have
pushed a lot of the old material into the
background. The really useful stuff is still there,
much of it in the 'Library'. What I have culled
hardest is 'Old News' (formerly known as 'New News').
Here the plan is to gather highlights of past
newsletters into annual summaries, which you will find
in the 'Old News' section
One
of the most obvious and important changes is that we
have moved on to become "www.tradsong.org"
rather than ".com". I always felt that
the .com tag was inappropriate but it was a bit classy.
I
have tried to keep the site simple and easy to navigate.
There are four main sections.
- TSF
FAQ - Frequently asked questions
about TSF, including details of membership and
the things that we do
- The
Library - Where you can find
reference documents and articles by members.
And a few other things as well.
- Meetings
- About TSF meetings, including
the archive of meeting reports and details of
future meetings
- Old
News - Home for the digest of
past newsletters and a collection of old photographs,
etc.
I am using software that is still new to me (Namo
Web Editor) and I am still finding my way round it,
so there will be imperfections and things that don't
work or look as well as I would ideally like. You
will also notice that I am making much greater use of
PDF files since it gives much more predictable handling
of some graphics..Most computers nowadays come with
Acrobat Reader pre-installed but if you don't have it
you can download it from www.adobe.com.
Please
let me know what you think of the site - feedback is
always welcome, as are contributions of news, articles
or general gossip.
