TSF Spring Conference 2025

TSF Spring Conference, ‘Song and a Sense of Place’

The TSF Spring Conference was held at the University of Sheffield on 26 April 2025 with the support of the Contemporary Folklore Research Centre. This was an in-person event, though three of the presentations had been recorded beforehand. More than forty people booked places and it was a very enjoyable day with lots of time for networking and discussion among those who attended. The facilities were excellent, and we are very grateful to Julia Bishop, Catherine Bannister and Jessie Thompson for their hard work on the organisation in advance and on the day. The Sun shone and many of the attendees were to be found in the park next door in the lunch break. Several of those who attended stayed on for a very enjoyable singing session in the evening – and several others said that they would have loved to have stayed but that they had singing gigs that evening – and we can’t argue against their commitment to keeping the tradition alive. You can view a copy of the full programme for the day here.

Videos of all the presentations are now available on YouTube. You can find the playlist of the four sessions using this link – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sTJ4_SMLhE
